VeriPark ensures infinite productivity in its core business
with the employee portal "Infinite Loop".
Situation
VeriPark, is a professional services firm where creativity and
skill are the core values and core business is based on project team
accomplishments. In the competitive professional services market, VeriPark
needs to minimize operation costs and improve productivity to gain a
competitive edge. Thus, the project teams must be well planned and comply with
the project timeliness and commitments. Another strength VeriPark has and has
to maintain is quality. VeriPark has to make sure the project teams are
knowledgeable and keep up with the advances in technology, and work in
accordance with the quality standards set by the company.
Another challenge VeriPark faces is distributed teams. VeriPark
teams work with the client in the clients' site, which increases project
achievements but makes management and control harder and diminishes company
internal communication.
Solution
In programming practice, the term "infinite loop" is used for a
piece of code that never exits, runs continuously in a loop and possibly
results in a system crash. VeriPark started an internal project code named
"Infinite Loop" - the company's employee portal. The name was chosen to
indicate that the employee portal project will never be complete and will keep
evolving as the way VeriPark does business evolves.
i-Loop operates the way VeriPark does business. From customer
management to proposal planning, from team and project planning to project
accomplishment, VeriPark employees use i-Loop. Thus not only the project
managers can access daily activities of the team, the finance group can prepare
and track the budget, the team can enter and track the project expenses, thus
each department makes its own use of i-Loop to improve productivity. VeriPark
customers also use i-Loop project management module. Customers can view project
status reports, track project activities and check the project status using
their accounts in i-Loop.
i-Loop is also a tool for quality control and internal training
for VeriPark. New employees use i-Loop for their company acquaintance program
and i-Loop schedules the company's internal code quality process. Also internal
education programs are announced through i-Loop and registration to the
programs are completed in the same way.
A side effect of i-Loop, which is not to be neglected, is its
utilisation to employee communication. Messages are broadcasted through i-Loop
and it is a place where VeriPark teams working in different sites come together
to exchange ideas.
