Building AI-first banking through stronger partnerships

Banks are under pressure to modernize customer experiences, make better use of AI and deliver results across systems that were not built to work together. The technology matters, but so do the less glamorous questions: Which banking process should change first? What data does an agent need? Who remains accountable for its decisions? And who will implement the solution?

The answer shapes everything that follows. Successful transformation brings together the right technology and a strong partner ecosystem. Partners contribute local market knowledge, customer access, implementation expertise and ongoing support. Joint demand generation, account planning and co-selling help create new opportunities, while customer expansion programs support growth beyond the initial implementation.

AI has added urgency to the conversation. Banks are looking for practical ways to use intelligence across customer journeys and daily operations. General-purpose tools can support everyday productivity, while banking applications require deeper knowledge of financial products, regulatory requirements, customer information and connected systems.

PartnerConnect explored how financial institutions can apply AI to these areas and how partners can develop the skills and resources needed to deliver the solutions locally.

The session featured Michel Diab, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at VeriPark; David Dervish, Chief Revenue Officer; Ghina Sabbagh, Product Marketing Manager; and Caglar Kepir, Manager of Regional Partner Sales. The closing fireside discussion brought together Zubair Ahmed of Qorus, Karan Nigam of Microsoft and Melih Murat of IDC, with Jennifer Luciano, Director of Customer Success at VeriPark, as facilitator.

The transformation we are bringing to our customers requires more than great technology. It requires an ecosystem with the same focus and intensity. Our partners are central to that journey: combining their local market knowledge, customer relationships and delivery strength with VeriPark’s banking expertise and innovation so that, together, we can turn transformation ambitions into real outcomes for financial institutions.

Michel Diab, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at VeriPark

What does AI-first banking look like in practice?

AI-first banking begins by identifying where intelligence can improve the experience, reduce manual effort or support better-informed decisions. The technology is then designed around the data, policies, approvals and systems involved.

Card disputes, trade finance amendments and credit underwriting provide useful examples. Each has its own requirements and operational consequences. A general-purpose agent usually lacks the specialist knowledge needed to manage them safely and effectively.

Generic agents solve generic tasks. Banking needs agents built around its own processes.

David Dervish, Chief Revenue Officer, VeriPark

VeriPark starts with the problem the bank wants to solve. Working with the financial institution, we identify where the current process creates friction, determine which customer or employee groups are affected, define the desired business outcomes and assess gaps in the existing journey. The agent is then designed around those specific needs and embedded in the relevant banking process.

Employees retain authority over sensitive decisions. AI can collect information, prepare recommendations, coordinate tasks and reduce repetitive work. People review the output and step in wherever judgement or approval is required.

Which banking AI use cases are delivering practical value?

The webinar demonstrated several use cases across customer and employee journeys.

  • A Digital Relationship Manager supports customers across both sales and servicing journeys through natural-language conversations. Customers can manage everyday banking needs such as card services, inquiries and disputes, while also receiving guidance on relevant products, financial needs and next-best actions. Based on the customer’s request, context and profile, the Digital RM can guide them into the appropriate servicing, sales or fulfilment process. This extends relationship banking to a broader customer base while allowing human relationship managers and advisers to focus on more complex needs and high-value interactions. Where human judgement or personal attention is required, the Digital RM can seamlessly hand over the conversation with the relevant customer context already captured.

  • Employee-facing agents reduce preparation and administrative work. A call report agent can turn a Microsoft Teams conversation into meeting notes, a structured CRM call report and linked opportunities and service requests.

  • In trade finance, an agent can help coordinate a letter-of-guarantee amendment by checking eligibility, supporting pricing decisions, preparing customer communication and updating CRM as the request progresses.

  • Credit and collections also offer clear applications. A credit write-up agent can gather financial information and prepare a consistent, auditable starting point for an analyst.

These examples share a common foundation: a clearly defined banking process, reliable data, connected systems and human oversight.

Why do connected banking journeys need a common foundation?

The importance of this foundation was also reinforced during the panel discussion. Karan Nigam stressed that “good AI relies on good data and good context,” noting that partners can help institutions organize these foundations and adapt AI to specific banking processes and desired outcomes. Melih Murat similarly identified fragmented data and weak governance as key barriers, emphasizing the need for information from disconnected systems to work together and for banks to maintain visibility into what their agents are doing.

VeriPark’s Customer Experience Suite is designed to connect banking journeys across digital channels, assisted channels, CRM, lending and servicing rather than treating each interaction as a separate experience. VeriChannel, VeriBranch, VeriTouch and VeriLoan work together so that customer context, processes and actions can move across products as part of one connected journey.

A customer might express an intention in digital banking that needs to become context for a relationship manager in CRM or the start of a loan process. VeriPark’s products connect those steps.

Ghina Sabbagh, Product Marketing Manager, VeriPark

VeriLink extends that connectivity beyond VeriPark products into the broader banking ecosystem. It provides the integration layer between the VeriPark suite and core banking, cards, payments, lending and credit systems, AML and KYC services, document management platforms and other banking applications. This allows a journey that starts in one channel or product to continue across the systems required to complete it.

On top of this connected foundation, VeriPark’s AI Layer enables AI innovation to scale across the entire product suite rather than remain embedded within individual applications. Agents can work together as part of a multi-agent ecosystem, sharing context and coordinating actions across products and banking systems. For example, a customer-facing Digital RM within Conversational Banking can interact with an RM Agent in VeriTouch, retrieve relevant customer context and initiate the next appropriate action without creating a disconnected experience.

This architecture allows banks to introduce new agents and use cases progressively while reusing the same integration, data and governance foundation. As more agents are introduced, they can collaborate across customer-facing, employee-facing and operational processes rather than operating as isolated AI capabilities.

The platform is built on the Microsoft technology stack, allowing VeriPark to combine its banking-specific products, processes and integrations with Microsoft’s cloud, data, AI and business application capabilities. This provides the technology foundation for secure integration, scalable AI adoption, responsible AI practices and enterprise governance, while VeriPark adds the banking-specific context required to translate those capabilities into real financial-services journeys.

Why is VeriPark’s global growth creating new opportunities for partners?

VeriPark’s expansion across North America and Australia is increasing the need for local market knowledge, joint demand generation, account planning, co-selling and customer expansion  and delivery capacity. The webinar highlighted a growing credit union ecosystem in Canada, multi-product transformation programs in Australia and CRM expansion in the United States through a white-labelled offering and joint go-to-market partnership.

Financial institutions increasingly want implementation teams that understand local requirements and can remain involved throughout the transformation journey.

Partners contribute customer relationships, consulting expertise, market knowledge and delivery resources. VeriPark brings banking technology, product expertise and experience gained through financial services implementations. Together, these strengths can support larger transformation programmes and more relevant customer propositions.

We are not just looking for referral partners. We are building implementation, sales and go-to-market partners.

Caglar Kepir, Manager of Regional Partner Sales, VeriPark

How does the VeriPark partner model support shared delivery?

VeriPark is developing a partner-led model built around shared responsibility. Partners can contribute across sales, implementation and long-term customer growth.

Some may focus on joint account planning, co-selling and coordinated campaigns. Others may build certified delivery teams and take responsibility for local implementation services.

Partners with an established financial services focus can develop a dedicated VeriPark practice. This may include sales and technical certifications, specialist banking skills and repeatable offerings for specific markets or customer needs.

Each route creates a different commercial opportunity. Co-selling can open access to larger deals and VeriPark expertise. Implementation generates professional services revenue and supports longer customer relationships. A dedicated practice can combine license and services opportunities while strengthening the partner’s position in financial services transformation.

VeriPark supports this development through its Partner Academy, hands-on labs, training, updated partnership agreements, new engagement models and partner incentives. These resources help partners build credible sales and delivery expertise over time.

What should partners do next?

Partners can begin by identifying where they are best placed to contribute.

An organization with strong customer relationships may start with joint account planning and co-selling. A partner with established implementation resources may build a certified delivery team. A company with a clear financial services focus may develop a dedicated practice around digital banking, CRM, lending or AI-powered customer experience.

A specific customer opportunity provides the most useful starting point. The teams can define the problem, agree on the responsibilities, and identify the skills required for delivery. This creates a practical plan that can expand as the relationship develops.

PartnerConnect highlighted the close connection between AI-first banking and partner-led growth. Banks need agents grounded in real processes, supported by connected data and governed responsibly. They also need partners with the local expertise and delivery resources to implement those solutions successfully.
